I gotta say, I extremely LOVE the way Veronica Roth narrates the story! But, I'm not gonna criticize on how she should write it this way or that, though. Anyways, here's the Divergent book review by me:
Of course with any fictional book that's a New York Times Bestseller, I was speculant on whether it would be an enjoyable one. It turned out to be one of the most unique books that I love! The storyline of the book is non like any other: you've got five factions (Erudite, Abnegation, Amity, Dauntless, and Candor) located in a futuristic Chicago enclosed by fences (only the Amity farms are located), and the faction system works a lot like a democracy: no one faction will out rule the other. That is, if one of the factions decides to make a serum to control the other factions and then it would be a mess! Ok, enough with the chit-chat about the storyline. I'll continue with the review.
Overall, the books were outstanding! I want more of what happens after Allegiant, but I don't think Veronica has anything planned for a fourth book. In the beginning of Divergent, you get a feeling that something is different about Beatrice Prior (later when she transfers to Dauntless, she changes her name to Tris): she's not like the other kids in a sense that her mind works differently. She's one of my favorite characters because of how she's brave, selfless, and "fearless" (you can't be totally fearless without having something you're scared to lose whether it's a close friend, a partner, family member, etc.). I also love how Veronica opens the book with a scene that's totally different from other books (I know, I've probably already said that a million times!). Veronica is such a creative author where she draws you in through guessing what's gonna come next. In fact, I finished Insurgent at 4am EDT because I wanted to know what happened next. And, compared to the other books I've read (The Maze Runner, The Fault In Our Stars, and Hunger Games), Divergent has the best creative writing, captures the audience in within the first few chapters and will keep you guessing every time you close the book!
I know it's short and brief, but I hope you enjoyed reading it! If you have any questions feel free to leave them in the comment section.
Until next time... Emma
